FAQ

Will, I always see the same carer?

Generally yes, although occasionally this may not be possible. As far as possible we aim for continuity for our clients. However our staff take holidays and need days off. Also if care is needed for 24 hours shifts it will involve 2 carers and one to relive them for their time off. We always let you know in advance when this is going to happen, and for the sake of security we make sure you know the name of the replacement. Where appropriate, we make sure that the replacement is brief by your usual member of staff.

I’m worried about security

We select our staff carefully. We carry out a Disclosure & Barring Service check and we take up all references. Often staff who join us are recommended by our existing nurses or carers. Not only can you be sure of your own safety and that of your home, but you can rely on the fact that our staff will keep confidential anything they may learn whilst they are in your property or nursing home.

How much does a Morphy nurse or carer cost?

It’s not possible to quote a specific figure, because the extent of care and the skills required vary from case to case. All we can do is reassure you that Morphy charges are comparable with other Midland’s care agencies. If you have private health insurance it is worth checking with your provider as your policy may include homecare. If you use Morph, our Nurse Liaison Officer will visit you so that we can assess your requirements, and give you a quotation for the services you need.

What sort of medical cases do you care for?

Almost any case where the doctor has decided that home medical care is suitable. Contact us, if you want to know precisely how we can help. We encourage our clients to be as independent as possible for their own-well-being

Can you help support independent living for the elderly?

Certainly, as well as (or indeed, instead of) nursing we can provide care staff to manage tasks like shopping, bathing, cooking, light domestic duties etc. If you need to know precisely how we can help, just contact us.

How does your presence affect the relationship with doctor?

If our client is under the care or supervision of a doctor-whether a GP, hospital doctor or other specialist-our staff work to the physician’s medical instructions and can provide professional feedback as required. As a simple example, it might be that a doctor has decided that your blood pressure should be checked daily. We do this and report the result’s back as required.

Can you help with temporary problem?

Indeed. Many of our customers have short-term needs, following an accident or operation. Whether a single visit is needed or longer-term care, you can count on Morphy.

What about looking after elderly mentally infirm cases?

If problem is suitable for home care, as decided by the doctor supervising the case, then we can provide nursing and care. All our staff receives training in dementia care and care of the elderly.

Can you provide respite for family carer?

We can. It can be wearying to look after a member of the family with a medical problem and we are very happy to provide regular respite- say one or two days a week- or holiday relief for longer periods. We know how important it is for family carers to have some time for themselves and we are happy to help.

How do you cope with a medical emergency?

Our staff are fully trained to manage in the event of a medical emergency and can often manage the crisis by themselves, or as necessary by calling in outside specialists.
